The World Meeting of Families begins today and runs through January 18 in Mexico City. The Pontifical Council of the Family has posted Preparatory Catecheses, which also appear on the World Meeting of Families official website.
At the bottom of the Pontifical Council of the Family page there are also links to Vatican documents relevant to the theme of the family. The Council's website also includes links to documents from earlier World Meetings of the Families. This year's meeting is the sixth such event.
The event's official website also has pages with writings by Father Sergio G. Román about the values that support family life, such as generosity, patience and knowing how to listen. The program for the event can be downloaded from that site.
Pope Benedict XVI will participate in the congress by videoconference from January 16 to 18. A January 11 Asia News article has more information. A plenary indulgence was granted for those who pray, meeting certain conditions.
I did not find mention of TV coverage for the event in English. I will try to update later if I find out that there will be U.S. broadcasts. EWTN will broadcast the concluding Solemn Mass on Sunday, January 18 live at 10:00 a.m. eastern (7:00 a.m. Pacific). KTO French Catholic TV will also broadcast the concluding Solemn Mass and will probably have the complete video available for viewing on demand a day or so afterward.
