I am working on a series of Advent posts this year for the first time in several years.
The series should be daily, but I don't plan to return to daily blogging afterward. I'll just post when I have something completed that I want to write about. However, as we draw closer to Advent, and during Advent, I will also post links to some things that inspire me and links to articles about others whose thoughts on this Advent are similar to my own.
This Advent series isn't primarily about Christmas. It is about waiting for God in the communion of the saints. It is about the human family created in the image of God, the Church protected by Christ, Advent as a season of penitence, and about watching for His return:
Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesare′a Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that the Son of man is?”And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Eli′jah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it." [Matthew 16:13-18]
