God Bless you Teresa for navigating a path that leads to John Climacus - there is such richness in B16's Encyclical, I'm just saddened that many fail to see the call in para #39. We need courage to wish Pope's "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" for all souls. Many seem more willing to discuss the grisly(*) details of what shade of gray the emeny's spot in Hell will be, see my comments on the cartoons at

rather than point to the Light and sing along with Johny Nash

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin' for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin' but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin' but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

We Europeans may redeem ourselves yet,
(so long as welcome everyone else along for the ride of course)

pray for us.
